Bret Hart, The Rock, Mick Foley Appear On Impact Bound For Glory 2020
All had messages for a certain Hall of Famer.
Three of the most legendary superstars in the history of wrestling made indirect appearances on Impact's Bound For Glory 2020 last night, as they each congratulated former colleague Ken Shamrock on being inducted into the company's Hall of Fame.
Five time WWE Champion Bret Hart, former TNA World Champion and hardcore king Mick Foley, and World's Most Popular Man Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson all posted videos celebrating the career and accomplishment of MMA pioneer Shamrock.
Hart, himself twice inducted into WWE's Hall of Fame, showed his face for the first time ever on Impact, with a laudatory message for the man who officiated his famous scrap with Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13. In addition to praising Shamrock as the "toughest man on the planet", he also fondly recalled the World's Most Dangerous Man's softer side, in particular his friendship following the Montreal Screwjob:
"I will never forget the supportive phone call I got from Ken only hours after it happened. He told me he was in my corner. That he was one of my guys and he will always be one of my guys. He talked about quitting, but I encouraged him to carry on and do his best, but I will never forget how much the support meant to me at that night, at that time."
The Rock, a star of the Attitude Era alongside Shamrock and today Hollywood's biggest box office draw, was likewise making his first Impact appearance, and he reserved similarly glowing words for the UFC veteran. Johnson thanked Ken for the "sweat equity", noted he was an "awesome dude", and promised some tequila would be winging its way to his surely octagonal home.
Foley is no stranger to Impact crowds (not that there was one last night), but his message was no less special. He echoed the pride and adulation of Hart and Johnson, wishing Ken all the best on his big night.
As well as his ex-WWE colleagues, names from the world of MMA chipped in with words of celebration, including Ariel Helwani, Bas Rutten, and Chael Sonnen.
