Brock Lesnar Is NOT Retired From Wrestling... (WWE News)

WWE still has a spot for Brock Lesnar amidst retirement rumours; whole thing an angle?

PWInsider is reporting that Brock Lesnar is still listed as an active performer on WWE's internal roster sheets. That's despite Brock being moved to the company's alumni section on their official website. Behind the scenes, at least, the legend is still considered 'live'.

Unfortunately, PWInsider was unable to determine exactly why they made the change on WWE.com if that's the case. Meanwhile, The Wrestling Observer's chief Dave Meltzer has been told by sources to treat the whole deal as an elaborate angle.

Lesnar appeared to retire from the ring after losing to Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42. Post-match, a visibly-emotional 'Beast' removed his boots and gloves, hugged longtime manager Paul Heyman, waved goodbye to the fans and held up an "X" sign before leaving.

For those not in the know, the "X" is typically used by referees/other staff to alert those backstage that someone is injured for real. It isn't normally reserved for retirements, so this was a curious ad-lib from Brock on the night. Someone will need to ask him about that in an interview someday, assuming he talks to the media once his career is actually wrapped up.

Internally, Lesnar isn't tied to one brand - he's neither Raw nor SmackDown right now. Everyone is just kinda sitting around waiting to find out whether this is a storyline or not. There have been rumours of a match vs. Gunther at SummerSlam in August (which had been suggested as a possible real retirement date for Brock before 'Mania).

Time to play the waiting game, but he's still active on those roster sheets.
