During Wednesday nights live broadcast of Main Event on the WWE Network, it was announced that a rematch for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship has been signed. John Cena, as the former champion, has enacted his rematch clause and will subsequently face Brock Lesnar at the Night of Champions pay-per-view event. Its quite frankly a bit shocking that WWE would set up this rematch so swiftly, especially considering the completely one-sided nature of the SummerSlam contest. However, things are never as they seem in the universe of WWE, and it's very possible that something could occur between now and Night of Champions. John Cena was absent from this past Mondays Raw broadcast -- likely to sell the beating he took on Sunday. However, expect to see him back soon, as WWE likely wishes to start building toward the potential match. Potential is absolutely the keyword in this situation, however. Night of Champions will be broadcast on the WWE Network and via PPV providers on September 21st -- just one month from now. What will happen in the interim? Perhaps, Brock Lesnar will refuse to defend his newly won title. Maybe, John Cena will be put out of action before the PPV comes about. There are a whole host of events that can take place before the signed rematch, preventing it from occurring. Of course, theres the very real possibility that the match will occur. The question then is, not what will happen in the lead up to Night of Champions, but what will happen on the day. Can John Cena find the inner strength to overcome the Beast Incarnate or is history doomed to repeat itself? Will the announced rematch between Cena and Lesnar actually take place? If so, who will come out the victor? And just how many suplexes will be thrown this time? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
