Brock Lesnar Wins WWE Title At WWE Day 1
The Beast Incarnate is the new WWE Champion.
With the WWE Day 1 PPV now in the record books, Brock Lesnar is the new WWE Champion.
Going into Day 1, the Beast Incarnate was scheduled to challenge Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Shortly before the PPV got started, it was announced that the Head of the Table would be missing from the event due to testing positive for COVID-19.
As a result, Lesnar was included in the WWE Title match, switching up the contest for Big E's prize from a fatal four-way to a fatal five-way.
In a blistering, frenetic barely eight-minute bout full of big spots, it was Brock who emerged victorious, planting Big E with an F5 to pick up the win. Prior to that, Lesnar had likewise hit F5s to Bobby Lashley, Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens, before Lashley put a brief halt to the Beast's rampage by locking him in the Hurt Lock. That submission was broken up by E, who then saw his own Big Ending finisher reversed into a match-winning F5.
Post-match, Lesnar and Lashley exchanged looks to suggest that fans may soon finally get to see the long-speculated one-on-one match between the pair.
In addition to Roman Reigns being absent from WWE Day 1, so too was Paul Heyman.
Elsewhere on the main card, The Usos retained the SmackDown Tag Team Titles over The New Day, Drew McIntyre defeated Madcap Moss, RK-Bro successfully defended the Raw Tag Team Championships against The Street Profits, Edge put away The Miz, and Becky Lynch held onto her Raw Women's Title against Liv Morgan.
