Brock Lesnar's WrestleMania 36 Opponent Revealed?
Who will the WWE Champion face in Tampa next April?
Brock Lesnar has this week been linked a potential match against one of Cain Velasquez or Tyson Fury at WrestleMania 36.
This comes from TalkSport, who are reporting that WWE is considering either former UFC Heavyweight Champion Velasquez or Fury, the "lineal heavyweight boxing champion of the world," for Raw's top title-holder in Tampa on 5 April 2020.
Both Cain and Tyson competed for WWE for the first time at Crown Jewel in October. Velasquez was felled by Lesnar in a short shoot-style/worked MMA match reminiscent of Battlarts or UWFi, which didn't quite resonate with a live crowd baying for "Suplex City," while Fury overcame Braun Strowman via countout after nailing a knockout punch.
A pinch of salt should be taken here, as it's all speculative at the moment, but TalkSport notes that Fury vs. Lesnar could be the likeliest option if 'The Gypsy King' becomes WBC Heavyweight Champion by defeating Deontay Wilder in their planned fight. The Velasquez choice would be considered a "rubber match," as Cain defeated Brock when they met in the UFC.
It'd be interesting to see what Fury or Velasquez could do with another four months of WWE training under their belt - particularly Cain, given the in-ring aptitude he has already demonstrated in AAA.
