"You want the next shot after Santos, come on down."

After a couple of weeks of teasing a match between the pair, Bron Breakker has formally offered Dolph Ziggler a shot at the NXT Championship.

This issue started a few weeks ago when Ziggler and his Dirty Dawgs parter Bobby Roode got into a heated verbal exchange with NXT's LA Knight at a Raw taping. For those wondering, this was a segment that aired solely on WWE's digital platforms rather than as part of the standard Raw broadcast.

In that exchange, the Show-Off belittled Knight by saying Dolph doesn't work Tuesdays; a reference to the weekly NXT show on Tuesday nights. Once Ziggler was eliminated by Bad Bunny at the Royal Rumble on Saturday 29 January, Breakker used this to mock the two-time World Heavyweight Champion on Twitter for not working Saturdays either.

Once said tweet was brought to Ziggler's attention by Sarah Schreiber during another WWE Digital exclusive, the veteran suggested he might head to NXT and take the Son of Steiner's title.

In the latest development in this saga, Breakker has told Ziggler that he's happy to give him a shot at the NXT Championship once Bron has Santos Escobar in his rear-view mirror.

As alluded to, Escobar will challenge for the NXT Title at the brand's Vengeance Day special next week.

Whether that match is followed by an appearance or two by Dolph Ziggler remains to be seen. Recent months have seen main roster stars AJ Styles and Riddle both compete on NXT 2.0 - and one has to imagine Ziggler could be the next established name to have a short run on the former black and gold brand.
