Bruce Prichard Podcast Debut A Huge Hit With WWE Network Subscribers
Only WrestleMania 34 tops 'Something Else To Wrestle With' on streaming service
Despite minor production issues and a lengthy run-time in keeping with the format of their hugely successful podcast vehicle, Bruce Prichard and Conrad Thompson's 'Something Else To Wrestle With' WWE Network adaption was the second most-watched production from the last seven days.
As reported in this week's Wrestling Observer, WrestleMania 34 remained in pole position, but the Skype discussion between the two popular co-hosts out-drew that week's edition of NXT, the 2018 Royal Rumble, TakeOver: New Orleans and the 'WWE 24' special on January's Raw 25 simulcast. Notably, it also performed better than WWE's lauded documentary on Bruno Sammartino. The touching and previously-unreleased piece served as a fitting tribute to the late 'Living Legend', and was promoted heavily across all of the company's output following his April 18th passing.
The experimental podcast project has brought longstanding Vince McMahon crony Prichard back to the fringes of WWE. Week One focused on transcendent pay-per-view WrestleMania 14. The show delivered typically fascinating insights on Mike Tyson as well as the diverse cast of characters that made up the roster during the tumultuous peak of the Monday Night Wars. Week Two has now been uploaded, deep-diving into the company's mammoth-drawing Mega Powers angle between 1988 and 1989. Attitude Era discussion has been a constant hit on the streaming service, but the Hulk Hogan/Randy Savage turmoil from a decade prior to that frenzied period should indicate if the debut episode's success was based more on concept or content.
