Former WCW and (short-lived) WWE star Buff Bagwell once decreed that Johnny Gargano had no chance of making it to a top level in pro wrestling. Gargano told this story during his appearance on 'Iron-On-Wrestling'. It hurt his feelings at the time, but he can have a laugh about things today.

Bagwell was wrestling on a show Gargano's father was promoting at their pizza shop when he was really young. When quizzed about 17-year old Johnny's prospects and whether or not he had the right stuff to make it in wrestling, Buff answered: "No, he doesn't".

Ouch!

Bagwell later apologised via social media when somebody clued him in about Gargano's success in NXT and on WWE's main roster. In fairness, he was likely only trying to be honest, but maybe went about things the wrong way. 'Johnny Wrestling' doesn't think it's any good reason to beat on Buff in 2024.

Gargano and partner Tommaso Ciampa lost their WWE Tag-Team Titles to Bloodline duo Tama Tonga and Jacob Fatu on SmackDown before SummerSlam. Their brief reign lasted just shy of one month, but DIY has experienced more success in developmental.
