Cain Velasquez In Talks With WWE & AEW?
Former UFC Heavyweight Champion in demand.
Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez is reportedly a major target for both WWE, AEW, and NJPW.
With regards to Vince McMahon's promotion, Dave Meltzer noted on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that the two parties have held "serious talks," though WWE would likely have to fend off serious competition to complete the deal.
Meltzer added that AEW and NJPW have also reached out to Cain's team. In addition, Marc Raimondi of ESPN has stated that Velasquez is currently in discussions with "two prominent pro-wrestling promotions," with his sources claiming contract talks with WWE and AEW.
Velasquez has earned plaudits for his pro-wrestling exploits so far, having debuted in a six-man tag featuring Cody, Killer Kross, and others at AAA Triplemania XXVII in August. He has since followed up by teaming with Brian Cage and Psycho Clown to face Los Mercenarios at AAA Invading NY in Madison Square Garden earlier this month.
A former UFC Heavyweight Champion (and conquerer of Brock Lesnar), Cain certainly isn't lacking in credibility. He has previously worked out at the WWE Performance Center in the past, too, which could play a role in any decision.
