Casting Bret Hart's opponent, Shawn Michaels, is one of the tougher aspects of this potential movie, if only because HBK was such a singular entity at this point in his career, and brought such a particular brand of d*ckishness to the table.
Michaels is one of the few people 100% confirmed to be in on the Screwjob alongside Vince himself, despite his initial firm denial. The fallout resulted in the already-controversial Michaels being vilified by a huge portion of the fanbase for years.
It takes a special type of cinematic douchebag to pull off such an exuberant "character", and given his slew of performances playing smug, cocky a**holes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson feels like the right fit.
His performances in Savages and Nocturnal Animals are proof perfect of his suitability for the role, while Kick-Ass and Avengers: Age of Ultron make it clear he'd have zero problem getting into wiry fighting shape.
