Charlotte Flair Becomes New NXT Women's Champ At WrestleMania 36
Night two opened with another title change...
Charlotte Flair defeated Rhea Ripley to become a two-time NXT Women's Champion during night two of WrestleMania 36.
Ripley tapped out to Flair's Figure-Eight following a protracted, intense and physically-bruising match that opened up 'Mania's second card. The victory means Charlotte has captured the NXT belt again a full six years after first holding it back in 2014-2015.
The internet is already split.
There's no doubting that the match was top notch, but some NXT hardcores won't be pleased that Rhea was cast aside for Flair. This, however, shouldn't be taken as a sign that WWE are already cold on Ripley; she shone in a difficult spot (opening match, no fans etc) in the Performance Center and will surely go on to bigger and better things.
For now though, NXT on Wednesdays has some newfound star power. Charlotte will become the woman on the brand, complementing Becky Lynch on Raw and Bayley on SmackDown. That's assuming, of course, that Bayley retains later in the show at 'Mania.
This is the third title change of WWE's weekend so far. Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross won the Women's Tag straps last night, and Braun Strowman ended Goldberg's short Universal Title reign.
