WWE is bringing back Tough Enough on Tuesday June 23 on USA Network and for weeks we've had questions about who will be on the show as the host as well as trainers. In a press release sent out by WWE today, we found out that Chris Jericho will be the host of the while former WWE Champions Hulk Hogan and Daniel Bryan will be a part of the panel on the show along with former Divas Champion Paige. The superstars in training will be trained by Booker T, Billy Gunn and Lita, most likely at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.
USA Network and WWE announced today that WWE Superstar Chris Jericho will be the host of the highly-anticipated series, WWE TOUGH ENOUGH, and will be joined by a panel of experts comprised of WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan®, WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan® and WWE Diva Paige„. The high-octane reality series premieres LIVE Tuesday, June 23 at 8pm ET/5pm PT on USA Network and around the world.* This season of WWE TOUGH ENOUGH will combine the can't-miss excitement of live television with reality-show drama, as WWE hopefuls vie for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to become the next WWE Superstar or Diva. Unlike anything on television today, the lightning-fast hour of entertainment and competition will include live results every week, giving fans worldwide the power to decide who stays and who goes the very same night. Each week, one cast member will be eliminated until one man and one woman are considered "Tough Enough," with each earning a one-year, $250,000 WWE contract. Throughout the competition, the contestants will be trained by WWE Legends Booker T„, Billy Gunn„ and Lita„. Contestants will also come face-to-face with WWE icons including WWE Chairman & Chief Executive Officer Vince McMahon; Executive Vice President, Talent, Live Events & Creative, Paul "Triple H®" Levesque; Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon; and WWE Superstar John Cena®, among others.
Jericho as host is not a surprise. He was the rumored host of the show after Steve Austin said he was too busy to do it after he was apparently asked. It's interesting because WWE replaced Austin's podcast on WWE Network with Jericho and now Austin is being replaced as Tough Enough host by Jericho as well. It makes some people dislike Jericho because they think he comes across like a WWE suck up, but there's nothing wrong with taking advantage of a job opportunity. Jericho will be really good in a role like that, so in the end that's what matters. https://instagram.com/p/2ZInzZGDnF/ Renee Young tweeted that she'll be Jericho's co-host although she is not mentioned in the press release. https://twitter.com/ReneeYoungWWE/status/596399101769428992 The panel aspect with Hogan, Bryan and Paige is likely because they are going to do a lot of live elements on the show on Raw and perhaps Smackdown, so they will need judges for various competitions. Hogan is arguably the biggest name in WWE history and has seen it all, so his opinion valuable. Bryan is considered by many to be the best technical wrestler of the last decade. He will be a big help for the trainees. Paige is only 22 years old, but grew up in the business and found success at a young age. Having three different type of people there as a panel is a good idea. Then there are the trainers. Billy Gunn is a full time trainer at WWE's Performance Center in Orlando, so he's used to doing that job. Booker T has a wrestling school in Houston and also trained people on the last Tough Enough. It should come easy to him. Lita as a trainer is a bit of a new role for her, but she is one of the most successful divas in WWE history. Her advice will mean a lot. The other trainers at the Performance Center will likely be on there quite a bit too. Do you like the choices for the show? Let us know in the comments below.
