AEW star Christian Cage took a thinly-veiled swipe at WWE management on Wednesday night.

Recently, New Level members Austin Creed and Kofi revealed that they were asked to take a hefty 50% pay cut to stay with WWE as the New Day. Obviously, both turned that down and they're now on team AEW after debuting inside Wembley Stadium at All In over the weekend.

Come Wednesday's edition of flagship show Dynamite, someone else was in the mood to talk about that: Christian Cage. He and partner Adam Copeland were in the midst of setting up a 3-way ladder bout (there's some TLC or 'CTL' confusion) vs. The Young Bucks and FTR when Christian decided to poke the bear.

When discussing the shady way in which he and Cope retained their tag gold at All In vs. The Bucks, Cage said this: "I’m surprised you’re not so embarrassed that you wouldn’t consider willingly taking a 50% pay cut and going somewhere else".

Quite clearly, that was an obvious dig at WWE and TKO management on the other side. Unsurprisingly, Cage's line prompted a big "oooooh" reaction from the live crowd in attendance for Dynamite. Some fans on social media have opined over the years that AEW's roster focuses far too much on this sort of stuff, but it's likely that Creed and Kofi got a kick out of it behind the curtain.

Most in the wrestling world would've backed the ex-New Day pair for scoffing at TKO's ridiculous 50% terms anyway. That was a slap in the face for 2 veterans who had been amongst the most over acts in the industry for a generation.
