CM Punk: 10 Reasons We Need To Let Him Go

6. We€™re Making Too Big A Deal Of It, Just Because We Can

With such easy access to our own personal soap boxes, we can ALL stand up and make ourselves virtually heard. Anyone can create a blog, write a letter to the editor, or rant on social media these days. Regardless of whether we have anything original to say, we will say it, simply because we can. Punk€™s decision to leave WWE, and the way in which he did it, got a lot of people fired up, myself included. I found it very intriguing, and was dying to know the reason(s) why. I wrote about why we shouldn€™t have been surprised that this happened, and how I didn€™t think he€™d be back. It was one of the most read and commented-on pieces I€™ve ever done. My work was but a grain of sand in the expansive desert of CM Punk articles and comments. You would have thought he€™d done something far more shocking or serious. But when you put it into perspective, it€™s almost funny how big a deal it became. And we made it that way, simply because we could. Before we had all of these forums for voicing our opinions, Punk€™s departure would have been big news, but not so sensationalized or drawn out. His keeping a low profile added to the air of mystery and did nothing to extinguish the myriad conspiracy theories (after all, he€™d left and come back before). But it€™s time to deflate the balloon and move on.
