CM Punk Gets Physical On AEW Dynamite - First GTS In 7 Years!
Who ended up Going to Sleep when CM Punk threw the knee on AEW Dynamite?
2point0's Jeff Parker became the first man to take CM Punk's Go To Sleep on pro wrestling television in over seven years last night, eating the returnee's finisher on Dynamite.
This came about after 2point0 and Daniel Garcia chose to jump Punk during his latest promo in Chicago, Illinois. The trio beat the 42-year-old down to generate heat before Darby Allin's music hit, and out came Allin with Sting in tow.
Punk fired back with the odds evened. Powering to his feet, he threw hands in the corner, then set Parker up for GTS while Sting hit a Scorpion Death Drop on the other side of the ring. Obviously, this drew a colossal pop in Punk's hometown.
Allin and Punk, who'll wrestle at All Out this Saturday (5 September), went nose-to-nose afterwards, as while Darby's existing beef with 2point0 and Garcia and respect for Punk led to him making the save, they still have to fight this weekend.
The segment closed on a Sting promo, with the WCW icon promising to get out of the way and let Allin and Punk wrestle at All Out. He won't be ringside when they collide.
This was the first time Punk has gotten physical on a major wrestling show since his last WWE appearance in January 2014. Though he is believed to have made several indie appearances under a mask since then, this was the first time fans had seen an authentic CM Punk brawl in a long time.
