CM Punk Meets With FOX To Discuss WWE Backstage
The Straight-Edge Superstars has had discussions about joining WWE's new FS1 studio show.
Following rumblings earlier this summer that CM Punk could be making a return of sorts to WWE, now comes a major update on the Straight-Edge Superstar’s potential return to the wrestling business.
Via PWInsider, multiple WWE sources have confirmed that CM Punk visited FOX Studios earlier this week with a view to working on WWE’s new FS1 studio show, WWE Backstage.
Punk met with FOX officials to discuss appearing on the Renee Young and Booker T-hosted show, which launches on Tuesday, November 5th at 11pm ET. By all accounts, no deal has been signed for the Chicago native to be a presence on WWE Backstage, but we do know that Punk took part in some on-camera testing and that Young was also present during the meeting.
FOX has already had names such as Sean Waltman and Taz testing out for WWE Backstage, and both Paige and Rey Mysterio are two other names in the frame for the taped weekly show.
To clarify, if CM Punk does indeed end up working on WWE Backstage, he would be working directly for FOX and not for WWE, per se. As of right now, though, FOX has to establish just exactly how it wants to present WWE Backstage.
According to various sources, FOX is currently experimenting with the exact format for WWE Backstage, as the network explores the approach of the show and just how many personalities it wishes to feature each week as Young and Booker head-up chat about current WWE happenings.
