CM Punk Mocks WWE's Money In The Bank 2022 Venue Change
AEW star CM Punk might've mocked WWE's venue change in a now-deleted Instagram post.
CM Punk appeared to mock WWE's venue change for the upcoming Money In The Bank 2022 pay-per-view in a now-deleted Instagram post.
The AEW man posted a picture of the poster from WrestleMania VII and captioned the story with, "Another bomb threat". Then, rather quickly, Punk thought better of the joke and deleted it from his feed.
He couldn't delete the thing quick enough though, because a fan grabbed the pic and posted it on Twitter. Response to Punk's jibe has been mixed thus far; some see it as a throwaway joke, whereas others think it's in poor taste and reckon the AEW star should stop focusing on WWE business.
Vince McMahon famously changed 'Mania VII's host venue from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to the smaller Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena in 1991. The official reason was security concerns due to Sgt. Slaughter's turncoat gimmick, but poorer-than-expected ticket sales were also reported at the time.
Recently, WWE switched MITB 2022 from the huge Allegiant Stadium to the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Punk's post was likely a dig at that, but it's since been deleted from his socials.
