CM Punk will be sidelined for around six-to-eight months due to the injury suffered while competing at AEW All Out 2022.

This is per Dave Meltzer, who reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Punk had endured a torn arm muscle while facing Jon Moxley. The injury will necessitate surgery.

That Punk had formally vacated the AEW World Championship won by defeating Moxley at All Out was confirmed on last night's Dynamite. The 43-year-old is currently suspended for his role in the post-All Out brawl that has engulfed wrestling discourse this week, though his injury status necessitated dropping the World Title independent of this.

Meltzer stated that Punk could still be fired by AEW, which houses a lot of people who don't want him to return.

AEW has commissioned a third-party investigation into the events following All Out. While accounts of what really happened vary from source to source, it is generally accepted that The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega approached Punk following incendiary comments made against the Executive Vice Presidents (and others) in the post-show media scrum. A fight then broke out, with Punk throwing at least one punch at Matt Jackson while his friend, Ace Steel, threw a chair at Nick Jackson, pulled Kenny Omega's hair, and bit the former World Champion.
