In the midst of a gruelling ALL OUT main event war with Jon Moxley over the AEW World Championship, The Best in the World suffered a torn left tricep thanks to a rather painful dive at The Purveyor of Violence.

According to Dave Meltzer in one of his daily updates, Punk was swiftly taken into surgery this week after his doctor recommended being operated on ASAP in a bid to prevent muscle atrophy, with the recovery time usually being around 8-months for an injury of this ilk:

"CM Punk underwent surgery earlier this week for the torn left triceps he suffered when doing the tope early in the Jon Moxley match. That is usually about an eight month recovery period. His doctor recommended surgery right away to prevent any muscle atrophy."

Not long after besting Mox in the ALL OUT main event, Punk would now-infamously let rip in a post-PPV media scrum, taking aim at everyone from Colt Cabana (Scott Colton), to Hangman Page, to AEW's EVP's (The Young Bucks & Kenny Omega). This controversial press conference would ultimately lead to a backstage incident involving Punk, The Bucks, Omega, and Ace Steele all getting physical and eventually being stripped of their various newly won titles before being completely blanked on the latest edition of Dynamite.

It was also reported by Meltzer that everyone involved in the scuffle had been officially suspended, though it remains to be seen if Steele and Punk in particular will return to the promotion.

Punk also underwent surgery on a broken foot earlier in 2022, returning to AEW on August 24. The new AEW World Champion will now be crowned at the end of the promotion's latest tournament, with the finals going down at Dynamite: Grand Slam on September 21.
