Cody Rhodes Calls Pat McAfee's Heel Turn The "Worst Received Thing In The History Of Wrestling" (WWE News)
WWE Champ compares Pat McAfee's turn to The Shockmaster and Gobbledy Gooker.
Cody Rhodes has dismissed Pat McAfee's heel turn and union with Randy Orton on WWE TV as the "worst thing in the history of wrestling". Speaking during an appearance on the SI Media podcast, the reigning WWE Champion refused to mince his words. This isn't actually even the first time Cody has bashed the decision, one which seems to have come from TKO execs themselves.
They're reportedly the ones who decided that McAfee should get involved in the title feud between Rhodes and Orton before WrestleMania 42, and it hasn't exactly been a popular decision. Granted, Pat is a heel and heels aren't supposed to be liked, but there's something...off about the way this whole thing has been handled.
According to Cody, it's on par with other wrestling misses like The Gobbledy Gooker and The Shockmaster. That isn't great company for McAfee to keep, but Rhodes did go on to say that he admires Pat for everything he's achieved outside the wrestling sphere as well as how hard he's worked to help WWE out.
There was an odd mix of fiery and complimentary comments throughout the interview. It seems like Rhodes is every bit as confused about what TKO are doing as everyone watching SmackDown.
Cody remains positive that he and Randy can still steal the show on Saturday night at 'Mania 42. He doesn't think all of this shoot-style promo business from McAfee will negatively impact what the old Legacy stablemates turned enemies can achieve inside the ring.
