BIZARRE it took so long.

Iconic British wrestling legend Davey Boy Smith will enter the WWE Hall Of Fame over WrestleMania 36 weekend...with the usual caveat that comes with all discussions of the impending Tampa weekender.

Rumours spread weeks ago that the British Bulldog was at long last set to enter the hall, with Corey Graves confirming as much on his After The Bell podcast. Smith sadly passed away at just 39 in 2002, but his legacy as an international crossover star and (once, at least) a mammoth draw remain in tact from his time with World Wrestling Entertainment and World Championship Wrestling.

Credited (and rightfully so) with convincing the bulk of the 80,355 Wembley Stadium punters to part with their cash for his SummerSlam 1992 clash with Bret Hart, Bulldog was for years a hugely valuable commodity to the major organisations in terms of their reach abroad. Stretching beyond his singles run, his legacy also includes a fabulous doubles stint alongside the Dynamite Kid in the mid-1980s.

Bulldog joins the New World Order, Dave Batista, John Bradshaw Layfield and The Bella Twins in this year's class, with the event (currently) set to take place the Thursday before 'The Show Of Shows'.
