Could This Top WWE SummerSlam 2021 Match Be Cancelled?
There's a growing concern within WWE that this top SummerSlam 2021 match might not happen.
Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair being pulled from two consecutive WWE house shows due to "unforeseen circumstances" has led to internal concern that the duo's planned SummerSlam 2021 match may not go ahead, reports PWInsider's Mike Johnson.
Banks and Belair both missed live events in Charlotte, North Carolina (14 August) and Columbia, South Carolina (15 August) this weekend. While the exact cause of their absence hasn't been disclosed, WWE gave the aforementioned reason when explaining the situation to the crowd.
Now, PWInsider's sources are worried about the SummerSlam bout.
Banks vs. Belair II was made official in a contract signing segment on last week's episode of SmackDown. If it happens, it'll be the sequel to their acclaimed WrestleMania 37 clash, in which Belair bested Banks to become SmackDown Women's Champion in a dramatic night one main event. Bianca has been champion ever since, mounting successful title defences against Carmella and Bayley.
WWE has no further house shows scheduled between now and this Friday's episode of SmackDown, which is the last before SummerSlam (21 August). This gives the promotion limited time to make an announcement on Banks vs. Belair.
