Current WWE Champion Posts WrestleMania XL Support For Cody Rhodes
This major star jumps on social media trend to side with Cody for WrestleMania XL.
The fallout from WWE's decision to bump Cody Rhodes out of the WrestleMania XL main event against Roman Reigns in favor of The Rock has continued throughout the weekend, with fans vocally objecting online in several different manners.
One of the more positive efforts has seen the hashtag #WeWantCody trending on X (formerly Twitter) throughout Saturday into Sunday, with the slogan staying within the top 10 trends in the United States and more than 100,000 posts as of early Sunday morning.
The trend got an unexpected boost from an unlikely supporter, when Logan Paul, the current WWE United States Champion, weighed in to his 6.8 million followers:
We want Cody.
— Logan Paul (@LoganPaul) February 4, 2024
In its first two hours, the post was viewed 2.4 million times and received more than 44,000 likes and 12,000 reposts. He also posted the tweet as a story on Instagram, where he has 27 million followers.
Dubbed the Social Media Maverick, Paul is not shy about speaking his mind, but the fact that he's a current WWE superstar and holds the secondary singles title on SmackDown speaks volumes. Several WWE wrestlers and staff spoke to Fightful about their views on the Cody-Roman-Rock issue, but it was all done anonymously.
Logan likely is the first current superstar to publicly lend his voice to back Rhodes for the 'Mania main event over Rock. He also has a bigger crossover audience than other superstars, given his background before joining WWE.
It will be interesting to see if any other WWE wrestlers join the public show of support for Cody, and whether Paul faces any repercussions for his post.
