Curt Hawkins To Compete At WWE No Mercy 2016
Hawkins in action - that's a fact!
After weeks of appearing in hype videos, Curt Hawkins will finally step into a WWE ring once again. As announced on Tuesday's episode of Smackdown, the former WWE Tag Team Champion will be in action at No Mercy.
No opponent has been announced for Hawkins yet. No Mercy airs live on the WWE Network this Sunday at 8:00 PM ET.
Curt Hawkins was first signed to WWE in 2006 along with then-tag team partner Zack Ryder. The two teamed as Brian and Brett Majors in FCW, then got bumped up to the ECW brand. Eventually, they were shunted to Smackdown, where the pair joined forces with Edge, got renamed, and won the WWE Tag Team Titles. After they split, Ryder went on to popularity while Hawkins floundered. In 2014, he was released.
The reinstitution of the brand split led to roster spots being offered to former stars, and Hawkins rejoined the company. Beginning with August 16's episode of Smackdown, Hawkins began appearing in pre-taped vignettes in which he recited "Curt Hawkins facts," a rip-off of a popular Internet meme. Though he teased making his televised in-ring return last month, he has so far only wrestled in dark matches and at house shows.
