Damian Priest is now the longest-reigning United States Champion of WWE's current brand split era.

This follows last night's episode of Raw, on which the former NXT star mounted a successful defence over Shelton Benjamin. Wrapped in around three minutes, the match saw Priest run through the Hurt Business man, absorbing minimal offense in the process.

Surviving another defence means Priest has now held Raw's secondary championship for 185 days. Defeating Sheamus for the strap at SummerSlam 2021, he has successfully defended it against the likes of Jeff Hardy, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, AJ Styles, and more during this period, making him the most active main roster singles champion in the entire company.

Despite this, Priest is only 32nd on the list of all-time longest United States Title reigns. He will surpass Bret Hart at number 31 should his run last another two days (which it obviously will).

Finn Balor has been lined up as Priest's next US Title challenger. After defeating Benjamin on Raw, the former Universal Champion walked out when Priest requested a world title-calibre opponent, accepting what was effectively an open challenge. That match has now been made for next week's Raw.
