Daniel Bryan's WrestleMania debut in 2012 started with a bang and ended with a fizzle, but it was all part of the plan. After narcissistically leaning over the ropes to kiss his on-screen girlfriend, AJ Lee, Bryan spun, took a Brogue Kick to the chops, suffered a three-count, and lost his World Heavyweight Championship. The match lasted 18 seconds.

WrestleMania wouldn't be WrestleMania without the occasional bit of madness, and opening the show in this fashion proved to be an effective way of working the crowd. The surprise outcome actually worked for Bryan's obnoxious heel character, given how big a jerk he was coming across on television.

But the fact that a kick and a bump were the only two things you can attribute to wrestling in this contest, means that this can't be categorised with any level of seriousness. The accolades Bryan would receive later down the line renders this nothing more than a blip. Amusing, but a blip nonetheless.
