How many stitches did Darby Allin require after THAT crazy AEW Revolution spot?

While the main talking point from AEW Revolution was Sting calling time on a truly legendary career, one other topic generating a huge amount of buzz was the insane bump Darby Allin took as he and the Stinger took on the Young Bucks in the PPV's main event.

Of course, this was a match littered with insane bumps, but nothing was quite as jaw-dropping as the sight of Darby going through a sheet of glass propped up on steel chairs on the outside of the ring as he dived from a ladder in the ring in an attempt to put Nicholas Jackson through said glass. Just reading that sentence is enough to give you a back spasm.

In the aftermath of this spot, Allin's back was clearly cut to ribbons and had blood pouring from it. For those concerned about the health of Darby and what intense medical treatment he may have needed after this, it sounds like he actually got away rather lucky.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez provided the somewhat surprising update that Darby only required 12 stitches after Revolution.

"I looked at this guy's back last night, and it was like he was wearing a red cape. I thought, 'Oh my god, they're not going to let him back in the match'. They did. He's still streaming blood everywhere out of his back. He needed... 12 stitches.

I heard that and I was like, 'Okay, hold a second, you mean 1200, right? 1200?' 12 stitches. I don't know how, but thank god. And that's the story. So, he's on his way to Everest."

While Darby Allin is indeed taking a hiatus from AEW at the end of the month as he prepares to climb Mount Everest, he first has a match against Jay White on next week's AEW Dynamite: Big Business.
