In a week where Ryback posts a lengthy blog dissecting his issues with pay in World Wrestling Entertainment and Adam Rose posts a note from his doctor regarding ADHD medication, it would take something particularly off-the-wall to take the biscuit regarding crazy news. Luckily for us, Bob Backlund is the definition of 'off-the-wall' and 'biscuit-taking crazy'.

At last night's SmackDown tapings, a backstage segment aired where Darren Young approached the former WWF Champion and asked him if he was interested in becoming Young's 'life coach'. Backlund agreed because of course, and promised to 'Make Darren Great Again', an obvious riff on Donald Trump's 'Make America Great Again' campaign slogan.

I'm not sure where to start with that. Backlund told Young that the first thing he needs to realise is that 'wrestling is life'. Luckily for Backlund, Young frequently talks of taking 'no days off', so the two should work well together.

Who am I kidding, Bob Backlund and Darren Young as an on-screen duo is as ridiculous as it will be entertaining. Eagle-eared listeners of Talk is Jericho will remember Young telling Y2J that he pitched this exact idea a while back, and it coming to fruition is a clear sign of WWE taking a more open approach to the ideas of the wrestlers working there.

Buckle in folks, this one is going to be interesting.
