Davey Boy Smith Jr. Reveals WWE's Hall Of Fame 2020 Induction Ceremony Plans
2020 WWE Hall of Fame class look to be being inducted during this year's WrestleMania 37 weekend.
With Davey Boy Smith being one of those legends who was due to be inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame last year, the former Intercontinental Champion’s son has given an update on the current plans to finally have Davey Boy and his fellow 2020 inductees formally welcomed into the Hall of Fame.
Speaking to Metro UK, Harry Smith – these days wrestling under the Davey Boy Smith Jr. moniker – revealed that the likelihood is that the British Bulldog and the rest of the 2020 HOF class will be inducted during WrestleMania 37.
Discussing plans for the induction speech for his father, Harry said:
“I’ve been starting to pinpoint things. I’m gonna have to base that on how much time they’re going to allow. My sister and mother will be with me on the podium, and how much we’re gonna have to divide between the three of us – and who’s going to do the induction for him – I’m not sure what or who that might be at this point, because of the COVID restrictions. I think it will just be me inducting Davey, as far as I know. I don’t think that they’re doing an audience, just with the fans from the Network on the screens.”
As for when this Hall of Fame ceremony will take place, the three-time IWGP Tag Team Champion believes that it will likely be the Friday before WrestleMania 37 that this most unique HOF event will happen.
Just last week, Harry Smith revealed that he’s had significant talks with WWE about returning to the company at some point in the imminent future. At one point in time, there was a tentative plan to have the 35-year-old be a part of the NXT UK brand, and it now seems more likely that he’ll end up on the main Florida-based NXT roster should any such return happen.
Competing under the DH Smith name, Harry was with WWE from 2006 until 2011, signing with the company when he was just 20 years of age. Since departing Vince McMahon’s sports entertainment behemoth, the powerhouse performer has made major waves in the likes of New Japan Pro Wrestling, Major League Wrestling, and his been a welcome part of Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport at times.
Where the the rest of the 2020 WWE Hall of Fame class is concerned, Davey Boy Smith is joined by Batista, JBL, Jushin Liger, the Bella Twins, and the nWo foursome of Hollywood Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott and Sean Waltman.
