Dean Ambrose is a rising star in WWE and now he's going to be a movie star too. Variety reports that Ambrose (real name Jonathon Good) is going to star in an action movie called "Lockdown." It's the second action film that WWE Studios and Lionsgate are producing together as part of their six pack movie deal. The first movie in that deal was called Vendetta, which stars the Big Show and was filmed earlier this year. Here's a synopsis of the film: "Lockdown follows a police officer who finds himself trapped inside his own precinct and hunted after crooked cops stop at nothing to recover incriminating evidence of illegal activities against those closest to him." The story notes that production on the film starts this month. That probably means that Ambrose is going to be off live events for the foreseeable future although he could still appear on television. Most WWE Films project run for about six weeks. We don't know what his TV schedule will be like post-SummerSlam although he could miss some time. When The Miz filmed The Marine 4 earlier in the year he was off WWE TV completely for months. Summer Rae was off for about six weeks while filming the same film and returned when they had a storyline in place for her. Big Show was off TV for a few months and has barely been back. It looks like he's formed a big man team with Mark Henry although we have no idea if they'll get pushed. It would be a shame if Ambrose missed time on Raw as well as a PPV, but hopefully WWE can work around the schedule and still have him appear on Monday nights. They may just write him off post SummerSlam and all of September although if that happens then it's going to have to be a storyline reason. It can't be like Miz or Big Show when they were gone because neither of them were really featured much. Ambrose has been a part of one of WWE's main feuds for several months now and it would be a shame if his momentum is stopped because of a movie role. As a performer, Ambrose has a lot of talent. He can do a good job of playing a character in an action movie. No doubt about it. It's nice that WWE recognizes that and thinks that he can take on a role like this. It's not going to hurt his wrestling career too much if he misses Night of Champions for it, but if he's gone too long it would hurt his momentum a bit. Fans are warming up to him a lot. Hopefully he's not written off for too long.
