Dean Ambrose Undergoes Successful Arm Surgery
WWE don't have a timeline for his return to action...
WWE.com have confirmed that Dean Ambrose underwent successful surgery to repair a "high-grade triceps tendon injury" on Tuesday night.
Dr. Jeffrey Dugas worked on the Shield member during an intense 40-minute procedure in Birmingham, Alabama. He told WWE's official website that there were tears to muscle tissue on Dean's forearm. Spelling it out and sparing none of the grisly details, Dugas said Ambrose had torn around 50% of his triceps tendon clean off the bone and needed work immediately.
Ambrose also needed some extra bursal tissue (swollen tissue) removed from around his elbow. He's not wasting any time though, and has already started physical therapy. As it stands, Dean can move his arm slowly, but WWE don't have a time scale on his return.
Whilst there is a chance he could miss WrestleMania 34, Dugas didn't seem too concerned that Dean would be on the shelf for too long. When discussing Ambrose's physical therapy and the surgery overall, the doctor described the procedure as "very straightforward".
That's encouraging, because nobody wants to see Ambrose miss the most exciting period of WWE's entire year.
