According to reports, he left the tournament of his own volition to focus on other bookings.

Zumbi, who lives and works in Mexico, has competed for a variety of promotions across the country. He's recently started working for Lucha Libre Elite, sister promotion to Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, competing against and alongside former WWE superstars Mr. Aguila (Essa Rios) and Super Crazy.

According to The Wrestling Observer, Zumbi pulled out of the Cruiserweight Classic to focus on LLE's Campeon Mundial Elite tournament, a 16-man single-elimination affair featuring a variety of stars from promotions across the globe. Other competitors include Jinder Mahal, Michael Elgin, Sabu, Zema Ion, and Bram, who defeated Zumbi in the tournament's opening round.

Zumbi has been replaced in the Cruiserweight Classic by Prince Mustafa Ali, a Midwestern talent who's been wrestling for 13 years. He's competed for promotions such as IWA Mid-South and DREAMWAVE, taking on the likes of Tyler Black (Seth Rollins) and Matt Sydal (Evan Bourne).
