Did Tommaso Ciampa's Injury Lead To Major WWE Raw Rewrites?
The NXT Champion's latest issue caused problems on Monday.
NXT Champion and new main roster star Tommaso Ciampa is hurt.
Per yesterday's reports, it looks like 'The Greatest Sports Entertainer of All Time' was removed from this week's Raw and SmackDown cards (and all live events) after suffering an undisclosed injury. He'll likely work through NXT TakeOver: New York on 4 April, then take some time off to rehabilitate the problem.
PW Insider have today revealed that while the extent of Ciampa's injury woes remain unclear, it's his neck that is causing the problems, and the issue led to a significant rewrite of this week's Raw.
They reckon that Ciampa and Johnny Gargano were set to wrestle Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins, Aleister Black and Ricochet, and an unconfirmed fourth team. The Revival were supposed to be at ringside for the bout, but ended up wrestling (and losing to) Black and Ricochet when it became apparent that Ciampa couldn't wrestle.
It'll be interesting to see how the injury impacts Ciampa's run, as most reports suggest he'll work through it wherever possible. News that it won't hinder WWE's TakeOver plans is encouraging, though, as a potential clash with Gargano still looms.
