Indie wrestling standout and We The Independent catalyst David Starr left Germany's Westside Xtreme Wrestling this weekend, fuelling speculation of WWE involvement.

Starr lost a wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship vs. Career match to Bobby Gunns on night two of the promotion's 16 Carat Gold 2020 weekend on Saturday night. He hit Twitter to thank the fans and say goodbye afterwards:-

wXw's working relationship with WWE makes this notable. The German promotion can now be added to a list of WWE affiliates also including EVOLVE that Starr can no longer work for.

Few wrestlers have been as critical of WWE's business practices as Starr, whose We The Independent movement was formed to "help research and implement best practice for the conditions and working environment for independent contractors," amongst other things.

Starr had previously put WWE on blast as part of an angle that saw him leave wXw in 2019, ripping the "evil corporation" for "hijacking what is supposed to be independent wrestling" in an incendiary promo (h/t Fightful).

This is definitely one to follow over the coming days. As one of the most outspoken men in wrestling, Starr will surely have a thing or two to say on the matter.
