Drew McIntyre lost his bid to finally dethrone Roman Reigns as Undisputed WWE Universal Heavyweight Champion, essentially flushing tons of goodwill and hopefulness from 62,000+ United Kingdom fans.

But it's what happened afterward that really was confounding.

While a dejected McIntyre sat in the corner frustrated at Reigns once again relying on family to save him in a title match, lineal boxing champion Tyson Fury entered the ring and had a staredown with Roman, then shook his hand. He then helped Drew up and gave him a pep talk about how he did the UK proud in how he conducted himself in the title match.

Fury then sang "American Pie," leading the fans and getting McIntyre to join in. Drew then told the crowd that "my island" didn't let him down, vowed to win the WWE world title, and switched to singing karaoke, asking if the Gypsy King knew "Sweet Caroline," and instead sang Oasis' "Don't Look Back in Anger."

The entire scene is vaguely reminiscent of Lex Luger after his WWF Championship match against Yokozuna at SummerSlam 1993, where he won via countout and celebrated like he had won the title... despite championships not changing hands on a countout. The ordeal made Luger look foolish in the long run, and by the time WrestleMania X rolled around, the bloom was off the rose for the Lex Express.

McIntyre essentially laughing off a devastating loss on home soil is a pretty bad look, even if the intent was to "send the fans home happy." It could have waited until after cameras stopped rolling. But considering all the build-up for this match and putting the entire weight of the UK and its first PPV/PLE in 30 years on Drew's shoulders and he sings it off is... a choice.
