Batista was eager to team up with Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 34, according to a report from Pro Wrestling Sheet.

The website yesterday claimed that the six-time world champion, who has not appeared for WWE since 2014, held talks over a possible return earlier this year. Alongside The Rock, he was regarded as one of the top candidates to compete alongside Rousey in her wrestling bow against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

However, the report goes on to state that - despite a willingness on the part of Batista - the company "suddenly" decided to fill this role with Raw general manager Kurt Angle instead. Their former employee, it is suggested, did not even receive "so much as a courtesy call" to confirm that his services were no longer needed.

Having parted company with Batista under a cloud four years ago, WWE execs giving him the cold shoulder perhaps isn't the best way to mend bridges. In the long-term, this could affect the chances of the Guardians of the Galaxy star appearing at WrestleMania 35, where he was rumoured to be eyeing another clash with former mentor Triple H.
