Does the WWE title have any prestige left? Yes but does it have as much as it should have? No, not by a long shot. The WWE title should be the thing that is the focal point of the company and recently the title has been more of an afterthought to whatever it is John Cena is doing at the time. Now its not because of Cena that I feel this title has lost prestige but it does seem that the title that should be the focal point of the company only is said point when it is around his waist or he is trying to regain it. Otherwise it is Cena vs Brock Lesnar or Cena vs John Laurinitus or Cena vs The Rock, but I'll get into my problems with those matches some other time. Now back in the Attitude Era the WWE title was always the main event of the PPVs, there were other stories that the participants were involved in and the title was rarely necessary to make the match interesting but it was still there, where it was supposed to be. Another problem I have with the current title is that it is the 'spinner belt' again not because I hate John Cena but because it is a gimmick championship belt, and I understand that these have been used before with the smoking skull title etc. but the difference is that none of them were used as the real championship belt at least not once the person who made the belt lost it. The 'spinner belt' which is hideous, replaced the old undisputed championship belt when Cena won it and I understand that they couldn't use the old belt because the WWE and Heavyweight belts were separated again but the spinner really is a title made for Cena and any other superstar that holds it just loses value because its really is Cena's belt and until they change it I won't be able to look at it without thinking 'that's Cena's belt, he'll be getting it back before long'. A final reason this belt looses prestige (but this is a big one) is that when CM Punk left WWE with the title they had Cena come out the next night with a new one, they actually have a spare title belt. How the hell are we supposed to take the belt seriously if we know they have a spare? If we know they aren't even fighting over a one of a kind item. I now WWE sell replica belts but they've never had two belts on the same show as they did a few weeks later. In conclusion some of the belts have some prestige left in them, some of them of them have a lot of prestige and some of them have nothing left but all of the belts have room to earn more prestige...well maybe not the divas title but regardless. And for those wondering, I'm not stupid, I know when Russo calls the belts props that he means that they are just handed to whoever the company wants to get over, they are more like tools in that respect. But the prestige of each belt is given to it by the fans that watch the wrestling, the fans give the title the worth it has and each fan will think each title is worth a different amount. Maybe more people should take a look at the titles and decide what they think about each title and decide whether they think the belts have and value left to them.
