Drake Maverick Emotionally Reacts To His WWE Release
The former 205 Live General Manager posts a heartbreaking video.
The last few hours have been a whirlwind for anybody involved in the wrestling world – particularly the talent and staff who have been affected by the mass of WWE releases that are occurring.
One such person to have been let go by WWE is Drave Maverick, and Drake – real name James Curtin – has taken to Twitter to give his emotional initial thoughts to this news.
The 37-year-old Birmingham-born grappler is as passionate as they get, and this video only further backs this up, with Maverick the first of the released WWE personnel to publicly react to this truly shocking day.
From what Drake says in the video, he is still due to compete in WWE’s tournament to crown an interim Cruiserweight Champion – so it looks as if we’ll still be seeing the 205 Live General Manager make a few more appearances on WWE television.
Maverick became a huge favourite of the UK wrestling scene under the guise of Rockstar Spud, before then landing a deal with TNA in 2012 after winning the company’s British Boot Camp. His success in TNA would see him land in WWE in 2017, with the ridiculously talented Brit consistently making the most of each and every opportunity he was given.
As of this writing, Drake Maverick joins Heath Slater, Lio Rush, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, EC3, Curt Hawkins, Eric Young, Sarah Logan, Erick Rowan, Aiden English, Kurt Angle, Pat Buck, Sarah Stock, Billy Kidman, Shane Helms, Lance Storm, Mike Rotunda, Fit Finlay, Shawn Daivari, Scott Armstrong, Epico Colon, Primo Colon, Mike Kanellis, Maria Kanellis, and Mike Chioda as being let go by WWE today.
