Dustin Rhodes Signs New Multi-Year Player-Coach AEW Contract
Great news for the artists formerly known as Goldust.
Dustin Rhodes and AEW have come to terms in a brand new contract for the 30-year veteran.
The former Goldust's "multi-year extension" will not only see him continue as a wrestler but also join the promotion's coaching staff, AllEliteWrestling.com has confirmed. The official writeup states that Dustin will work as a Promo Coach and Match Producer to "utilise his expertise and vast experience to mentor younger wrestlers."
"Dustin Rhodes has had an incredible wrestling career. His amazing journey brought him to AEW, and he's rejuvenated his career here," said AEW President Tony Khan, adding: "Dustin and I agreed weeks after that we both wanted him to stay with All Elite Wrestling. I'm thrilled that it's official now."
This sounds like the perfect deal for both parties. While Rhodes probably won't want to grind his body to dust in the ring at 50 years old, his acclaimed comeback match with brother Cody was a Double Or Nothing home run, and, as one of the most respected veterans left in the game, there's nothing to suggest he won't be an excellent coach.
Good for him and good for AEW. Here's hoping it all works out.
