Eddie Kingston is never one to shy away from making his thoughts absolutely crystal clear on any and all matters that catch the Mad King's eye.

For those who missed last night's AEW Dynamite, CM Punk's show-opening promo not only featured plentiful shots at Jon Moxley, but the Second City Saint also opted to take some digs at Kingston, labelling the New Yorker as the third best Eddie he'd been in the ring with - Punk alluding to Eddie Guerrero and 'Fast' Eddie Vegas - and the second best Kingston, in regards to Kofi.

Taking to Twitter, Eddie did not mince his words in response to the AEW World Champion's comments.

CM Punk and Eddie Kingston have only actually ever competed against each other once, which was of course the pair's brutal battle at Full Gear last November. There, it was the Straight-Edge Superstar who picked up the win in his second PPV appearance for AEW.

While some believe Punk and Kingston genuinely have a major dislike of each other, the two have regularly taken shots at each other on AEW programming and on social media across recent months, with the Chicago native currently in the midst of a burgeoning rivalry with Eddie's long-time pal (and interim AEW World Champ) Jon Moxley.

Somewhat surprisingly, next week's AEW Dynamite will see Punk and Moxley face off to unify their respective belts and definitively establish who is at the top of the AEW tree.

Given how many were - and some still are - expecting the Best in the World and the Death Rider to go to war at All Out on Sunday 4 September, maybe the "definitively" element of next Wednesday's unification bout won't quite come to be. Instead, it may well be that shenanigans or a controversial finish come into play in order to run back Punk vs. Moxley at AEW's impending PPV.
