All Elite Wrestling has announced what will be Eddie Kingston's first match since his suspension for a backstage altercation with original All Out 2022 opponent Sammy Guevara.

As confirmed by AEW founder and CEO Tony Khan via Twitter, Kingston will face cult NJPW hero Tomohiro Ishii on the Zero Hero pre-show for this Sunday's (4 September) pay-per-view.

Kingston has already wrestled Ishii in 2022, falling to the former NEVER Openweight Champion in a bruising 15 May encounter at NJPW Capital Collision in Washington DC. Eddie's last AEW match was a controversial defeat to Chris Jericho in a 20 July Barbed Wire Deathmatch.

Originally scheduled to face (and defeat) Guevara at All Out, Eddie recently served a suspension for confronting the Jericho Appreciation Society member, who had insulted his weight in an in-character promo. Kingston is believed to have attempted to pie-face Guevara as part of the altercation, leading to his suspension. He has since apologised for his conduct.

Sammy, meanwhile, has revealed that it is common practice for AEW wrestlers to tell opponents about things that shouldn't be addressed in promos, claiming Kingston didn't do so in this case.

It is understood that Kingston was upset not at the comment itself, but because it undermined his and Guevara's match.
