Edge Vs. Randy Orton Rematch Set For WWE Backlash 2020
"The greatest wrestling match ever" goes down on 14 June, apparently...
Edge and Randy Orton look set for a huge WrestleMania 36 rematch at the upcoming Backlash pay-per-view on 14 June.
This comes from a confrontation between the two on last nights Raw. Meeting in the show's main event spot, the allies-turned-rivals went back and forth on the microphone, with 'The Viper' stating that while the better man won at 'Mania, the better wrestler did not. That's when Randy laid down the Backlash challenge, stating that he wanted to beat 'The Rated-R Superstar' without any gimmicks.
Edge offered no response, leaving the gauntlet hanging. Charly Caruso, meanwhile, stated that this could be "the greatest wrestling match ever" if the returnee of the year agrees.
Edge and Orton's divisive Last Man Standing clash drew passionate responses from those who loved it and those who loathed at WrestleMania 36. It was a long, building-spanning brawl that took its time before concluding with a Con-Chair-To atop a production truck, so it'll be interesting to see how the duo fare in a more traditional setting.
When confirmed, this could be the first match WWE announces for Backlash, which was announced for an unconfirmed location during Sunday's Money in the Bank show.
