After being released by WWE following allegations of rape, former cruiserweight champion Enzo Amore earlier released a statement via his attorney Timothy J. Eckstein.

"Over the past two days, Philomena Sheahan has made multiple public accusations against Eric Arndt (also known as Enzo Amore with the WWE), including allegations of sexual misconduct concerning an October 2017 incident in Phoenix. Mr. Arndt fully and unequivocally denies those accusations. He is cooperating with authorities in this matter and looks forward to having it resolved in a timely manner. Neither Mr. Arndt nor his counsel will be making any further public comments on this matter.

Whilst WWE were quick to dismiss Enzo following his suspension - not even pausing to wish him well with his future endeavours - it is important to note that the police indicate no change in the case within the past week. Arndt was first reported to Phoenix police on 23 October, when the declarant was admitted to hospital after indicating she had been sexually assaulted. According to the police report, the initial assault took place at the Clarendon Hotel & Spa in Phoenix on 19 October.

At present, it is believed WWE sought to terminate Enzo's contract because he chose not to disclose information of his legal case with the company's hierarchy. In the recent case of Rich Swann's arrest for battery, WWE were quick to point out they would stand by the performer until proven guilty, whilst also suspending him. Amore's firing has caused many to make a fuzzy logical leap based on this precedent, but as of this week, the police report remains unchanged from the one posted in October.

Amore had originally been slated to face Goldust on Raw's 25th anniversary show, with the Zo-Train set to eat tables at the hands of the Dudleys. The story's emergence on Monday saw the segment replaced with Heath Slater & Rhino vs. Titus O'Neil & Apollo Crews, with the former tasting wood. Poor Goldust was left looking useless as a bodyguard late in the show.
