7. Johnny Gargano Vs. Tommaso Ciampa - Takeover: Chicago II

This wasn’t a wrestling match; it was never going to be and hence the Street Fight stipulation was appropriate as both men were going to tear each other limb from limb. Both men were fuelled by pure hatred and the action spilled into the crowd almost instantly.

Throughout the whole contest chants of “Johnny Wrestling” filled the arena and the unhinged Ciampa took a disliking to this as his strikes increased in violence with every chant. Rubbish bins, steel chairs and even stop signs were used to try and downright murder each other, but neither man were ever going to let the other win. Ciampa proved why he can be the best heel in the entire wrestling business with every single thing he did throughout the match made you hate him even more. From the call back to the same event a year previous when he slammed Gargano’s dazed head into the stage board to the spitting on and disposing of Gargano’s wedding ring, Ciampa was truly the ‘Psycho Killer’.

The finish was brilliant in its simplicity, Gargano’s emotions got the best of him and Ciampa played him like a fiddle. But it was made quite clear that things were far from over between the pair.
