Paul Heyman embraced the most cartoonish aspects of his personality in attempting to get Ryback over as more than just a hired goon in the shadow of Brock Lesnar.

It didn't totally work, but there was a certain charm to how much both committed to the bit. Their desperation to destroy CM Punk was born futile, but there was a modicum of fun to be had watching their own odd relationship blossom during the angle.
