Ronda Rousey shocked the live crowd at a Lucha VaVOOM card in LA on Thursday night by jumping the barricade and actually wrestling a match on the show.

Ex-WWE star Rousey teamed with real-life pal Marina Shafir vs. Taya Valkyrie and Brian Kendrick, and nobody saw it coming. Ronda and Shafir bagged the win after around five minutes when Rousey made Kendrick tap to an ankle lock.

Post-show, Ronda posted on her official Instagram page that "anyone who doubted me and @marinashafir could make magic in a ring is an idiot". She then thanked Lucha VaVOOM for bringing her along, and for letting her jump in unannounced.

Rousey also said thanks to Valkyrie and Kendrick for hosting her first match since leaving WWE behind. It's certainly one few in the wrestling industry could've predicted. Ronda was working Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam 2023 just a few short months ago, and now she's showing up for indy dates!

Fans on socials congratulated Rousey for giving back to an industry she hasn't always seemed comfortable in. Perhaps this will be a launching point for one of the least-likely independent wrestling careers ever. What a biz, eh?
