Finn Bálor's WWE Universal Title Push Set To Continue After SmackDown?
Bálor vs. Roman Reigns could be SmackDown's top angle post-SummerSlam.
It looks like WWE isn't quite finished with Finn Bálor challenging Roman Reigns for the Universal Title.
Despite speculation that Bálor might return to NXT, SmackDown's writers had Finn pin Baron Corbin then re-set his sights on Reigns. That brought Roman out with The Usos - WWE's 'Bloodline' then put the boots to Bálor, suggesting that he'll be Reigns' main rival post-SummerSlam.
Currently, Roman is set to clash with part-time star John Cena on the 21 August pay-per-view. After that, who knows? It does, however, seem like Bálor is a shoe-in for the babyface challenger role, and he does fit the mould of other workhorse opponents for Reigns like Kevin Owens, Daniel Bryan and Cesaro.
These lads could produce something special if WWE continues pushing Finn the way they are.
The NXT question is hanging over things like a cloud though. Bálor has made it clear to the media that he'd like a third run on the third brand before hanging up his boots. Whether that comes before he's the next sacrificial lamb for Roman is anyone's guess.
Extreme Rules is the next super show after SummerSlam. It happens on 26 September, so that may be where Finn gets his crack at the Universal gold.
