The LWO got the backup it was looking for Saturday night when Carlito made his return to WWE at Fastlane, aiding Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar in toppling Bobby Lashley and the Street Profits.

The two groups have been embroiled in a feud in recent weeks on SmackDown, with a six-man tag match on the horizon at the PLE. Friday night, the Profits wiped out Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde, leaving them unavailable to compete at Fastlane.

Rey said he knew who he could enlist to help, and placed a call and text, though he said later that his backup never answered the messages. However, Mysterio said he was confident the person would show up.

And Carlito did, arriving mid-match to turn the tide and put Montez Ford away with a Backstabber, giving the LWO the win after the stable had been on the defensive the entire match.

Carlito was last seen in WWE backing up the LWO at Backlash, which took place in his native Puerto Rico in May. Before that, Carlito entered the 2021 Royal Rumble and tagged with Jeff Hardy the following night on Raw. Prior to that, his last WWE match was way back in 2010.

Fightful Select noted that Carlito has been signed to WWE for several months. The interesting thing going forward will be to see how Mr. Caribbean Cool integrates with the rest of the LWO and how the group dynamic evolves with him in the mix.
