Former NWA Women's Champion Kamille No Longer WWE-Bound
Despite WWE interest, AEW now looks to be the likely destination for Kamille.
Despite prior reports suggesting she was heading to WWE after being offered an NXT contract, that appears to no longer be the case for Kamille.
Via PWInsider, Kamille is no longer expected to sign with WWE. Despite interest from the market leader, talks have ceased between the two parties.
The former NWA Women's World Champion is said to have been in "deep discussions" with AEW, with Tony Khan's promotion now viewed as the "stronger destination" for her. One main reason for this, is that signing with AEW would allow Kamille to pursue her acting career. This comes on the back of the North Carolina native having played June Byers in the upcoming Mildred Burke biography.
Kamille was backstage at an episode of AEW Dynamite last month, where it was initially reported that she was merely visiting to catch up with some friends. In the days after that visit, it was noted how she also spoke with "several people of influence" at that Dynamite taping.
Having made her in-ring debut back in 2017, Kamille was introduced to NWA audiences the following year, being brought in as the insurance policy of Nick Aldis and becoming part of his Strictly Business Stable. The 31-year-old powerhouse opted to depart the NWA at the turn of the year after passing on the option to trigger a six-month extension with Billy Corgan's company.
June 2020 saw Kamille defeat Serena Deeb to become the NWA Women's Champion, embarking on an 812-day reign that saw her pick up wins over notable names such as Chelsea Green, Melina, Taryn Terrell, Taya Valkyrie, Lelya Hirsch, and former NWA Women's Champ Allysin Kay. Kamille would drop that title to Kenzie Page at NWA 75 back in August.
