Former ROH Champion Roderick Strong Headed To WWE
Mr. Ring of Honor to become Mr. WWE.
It's been rumored for some time, but it looks like Roderick Strong is finally headed to the major leagues. Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that "It's pretty clear he's headed to WWE."
In Strong's last Ring of Honor match, he shook hands with fans at ringside, and then cut a promo delivering an emotional goodbye. At PWG 13 on Friday night, he also said his farewells in the ring, and was then embraced by a few of his fellow wrestlers.
Strong had spent over a dozen years in ROH, as well as having a short run in TNA. The one thing that eluded the indy standout was a shot in WWE. That looks to be corrected.
Seth Rollins posted a photo of the two working out in late June, leading to speculation that his good friend would be joining him in the company.
There's no word yet as to which brand Strong will land. A run in NXT is probably the most likely, as many of their top acts have been called up recently. However, immediately putting him on SmackDown wouldn't be a bad call, as they're in desperate need of talent. Or, he could be used in Raw's upcoming Cruiserweight Division, and become one of its featured performers.
No matter where Strong goes in WWE, it's nice to see him finally reach his dreams.
